A description of ShibusaShirazu from their myspace page:
They are the monster band from Japan that plays far-out, new-style jazz. The meaning of "SHIBUSASHIRAZU" is "Never Know Borders", and this band lives up to its name with active and exciting sounds.
The number of band players changes every time they perform, averaging around 20 to 40 players per performance, of a variety of age and type.
The stage performance of SHIBUSASHIRAZU does not consist of only music. It includes modern and underground style dancers, actors and actresses, special stage performing artists, and more. There are many kinds of contemporary expressionists gathered together in "SHIBUSASHIRAZU".
The band has previously toured in Europe five times, in 1998, 2000, 2002,2005, and 2007. They have been invited to major European jazz music festivals, including: Glastonbury Festival (U.K.), Moers Festival (Germany), Documenta 11 (Germany), Nattjazz (Norway), and Druga Godba (Slovenia). In each location, SHIBUSHIRAZU has been met with great applause.
It was indeed a highly entertaining show, and I plan to see them again.
